The K-9 division of UPSO consists of three K-9 teams that are assigned to the Patrol Division. Each team consists of a deputy and their canine partner. The teams are certified in narcotics detection, tracking, and handler protection.
Our K-9 teams regularly conduct training to keep their skills sharp. K-9s are often utilized to assist with missing persons, fleeing suspects and searching for illegal narcotics. Each dog is fitted with a special bullet and stab protective vest to keep them safe.
Captain Mike Bryan and Captain Sam Snyder, both former K-9 handlers, oversee the K-9 Division. The pair brings valuable experience and knowledge to the program, allowing them to mentor the active teams and provide guidance.
