TRIAD was begun in the 1980’s as law enforcement first started the community policing movement. Representatives from the AARP, IACP, and NSA came together to define ways to help keep older adults safe from crime.
TRIAD in Union Parish:
The Union Parish TRIAD was first organized in 1995 under the leadership of the late Sheriff Bob Buckley. The program began under the direction of Deputy Joe Woods and his wife Mary Ann.
The Purpose of TRIAD:
The purpose of TRIAD is to reduce the criminal victimization of the elderly and to address crime issues which affect older citizens. Sheriff Dusty Gates continues to support the efforts of TRIAD to keep the senior population of Union Parish safe.
